Precision Parts made out of Advanced Ceramics (High Purity Alumina, TZP Zirconia)
For over 30 years, Ceramaret SA (founded in 1907) manufacture precision parts in High Purity Ceramics, in particular 99,9% Alumina and TZP Zirconia. Other ceramics such as 96% and 99,7% alumina as well as ZTA (Zirconia Toughened Alumina) are also available.
The outstanding qualities of ceramics are ideal for high-tech applications such as in the medical field and for analytical instruments. The materials are inert, resistant to aggressive solvents, biocompatible, insulating and resistant to high temperatures. The 99,9% alumina meets the ISO-6474 and TZP Zirconia meets the ISO-13356 international standards for implantable devices.
Typical applications of ceramics are: Insulators for endoscopes and electro-surgical instruments, blades, feedthrus, etc. These materials are also widely used in flow control equipments as pistons, pistons guides and valves for high-pressure pumps, rotors and stators for sliding valves, pistons / cylinders for metering pumps, etc.
Been very hard, ceramics are not easy to machine. Ceramaret overcame this difficulty and specialized in the compaction of the ceramic powders. Single and double effect pressing, CIP (Cold Isostatic Pressing), HIP (Hot Isostatic pressing) are techniques currently used by Ceramaret for the near-net-shape forming of the parts. Parts are made 100% in-house, from the powder to the finished products, thus guaranteeing the quality at all stages of the manufacturing process. CNC, Centerless Grinding, Lapping, Honing are also techniques used if necessary for the secondary machining operations.
Ceramaret also supply precision hole jewels in ruby and sapphire.

Name: Ceramic pistons and / or piston-cylinder
Description: Custom-made Alumina or zirconia pistons delivered bare or mounted on stainless steel ferules. We also produce piston-cylinder matched sets for valve or metering pumps. HIP (Hot Isostatic Pressing) also available on request for higher material density

Pistons are produced in-house from the powder to the finished product. They are pressed axially or Isostatic depending on the OD size. Raw material used is thoroughly checked before production to make sure it meets all specifications.
Ceramaret's pistons are very resistant to wear and aggressive solvents. They are inert and biocompatible.

Ceramaret produce a variety of standard Balls & Seats in Ruby, Sapphire and ceramic materials but custom designs are welcome. A high finish of the seat area as well as perfectly clean components will insure a perfect tightness between both components.
For shear valves, we also produce ceramic Rotors & Stators. Surface finish flatness down to 1 light band will insure a perfect fit between both parts, while a surface finish adapted to your application will insure that no leaks will appear between both parts, while avoiding stiction between the two components.
