Details:
The concept arose following a tragic accident in the North Sea several years ago when, unable to quickly release an anchor in heavy seas, the supply vessel capsized with tragic and significant loss of life. Strong interest has been expressed, supported by several large E&P operators i.e. Statoil who have expressed strong interest in installing CC on offshore rigs, particularly in hurricane-prone regions where remote anchor release could mitigate potential catastrophic damage from dragged anchor chains. The CC system was proven through a full-scale onshore pilot in November 2011 and the first systems will be installed in first half of 2013 onboard the Norwegian vessel Skandi Vega.
