Extronics Announce World’s 1st Intrinsically-Safe RF Galvanic Isolator which protects against all possible faults Makes any standard RF output
Intrinsically-Safe
Houston, TX. 6th May 2013. Extronics, a leading designer and manufacturer of intrinsically safe and explosion proof equipment, today announced the launch of the world’s first apparatus certified intrinsically safe Radio Frequency galvanic isolator, the iSOLATE500. Resulting from three years of research and development by the UK based specialists; the iSOLATE500 is a major breakthrough in hazardous area wireless networking. Featuring a unique galvanic isolation design, the iSOLATE500 blocks all possible faults, including hazardous transients and makes any RF output intrinsically safe. Designed to be fully certified for use in ATEX and IECEx Zone 0, the iSOLATE500 enables standard wireless equipment to be deployed in the vast majority of hazardous areas without the need for costly assessment by notified bodies. Live connect / disconnect of antennas is now allowed and the whole process of deploying wireless networks in hazardous areas is made a far simpler, elegant and more cost - effective process. “In the last two years the interest we have seen an upsurge in enquiries about hazardous area wireless networking” said John Hartley, M.D. Extronics. “However, the complexity and expense of installation has been a significant inhibitor. Now companies can roll out their chosen standard Wi-Fi equipment across all areas of their business. The iSOLATE500 may only have a small form factor but we expect it to make a massive impact on the market.” The iSOLATE500, which has patent pending, can be seen on the Extronics stand 2541-I which is part of the UK Pavilion. Ends About Extronics: Formed in 1992, Extronics is a leading global designer and manufacturer of intrinsically safe and explosion-proof equipment. From its UK H.Q., Extronics produces a range of products designed to increase worker safety and improve productivity in hazardous areas. These products are distributed by Sales Partners throughout the world. Extronics unrivalled understanding of wireless networking enables companies in the process industries to unlock vital data from hazardous areas. Extronics Announce iWAP107 Access Point Enclosure System Now MIMO capable access points can be deployed in hazardous areas
Houston, TX. 7th May 2013. Extronics, a leading designer and manufacturer of intrinsically safe and explosion proof equipment, today announced the launch of the iWAP107, the latest in the iWAP series of ATEX and IECEx approved access point enclosure systems. The new iWAP107 brings the advantages of MIMO technology to hazardous process areas. Previously, WiFi links in heavy process areas have been badly affected by multipath interference created by the abundance of metallic structures causing the signal to scatter before arrival. In contrast, MIMO uses multipath algorithms to increase the range, throughput and robustness of the data link by capturing the scattered signals and recompiling them. The new iWAP107 enclosure system allows the latest MIMO Access Points from market leaders such as Cisco and Aruba to be deployed in hazardous areas to significantly improve wireless performance and reliability. The iWAP107 also comes with the revolutionary iSOLATE500 RF galvanic isolators, which makes all the antenna points intrinsically safe. This enables any standard antenna to be used with the system and allows conventional wiring of RF connections. Designed for use in ATEX and IECEx Zone 1 hazardous areas, the iWAP107 is a perfect system to allow data to be unlocked from difficult process areas such as oil rigs and heavy petro-chemical sites. The iWAP107 has already been commissioned for use in deep water production platforms where its gigabit Ethernet capability is vital in providing the necessary bandwidth. Extronics have long been pioneers in developing wireless solutions specifically for hazardous process areas and the iWAP107 is the latest in a product line going back to 2005. “We have recently experienced a dramatic upsurge of wireless enquiries in hazardous areas” said John Hartley, M.D. Extronics. “The iWAP107 is part of a substantial programme of product development designed to cost-effectively address this growing demand. It’s use of the new iSOLATE500 RF galvanic isolator means far simpler and more cost-effective deployments.” The iWAP107 can be seen on the Extronics stand 2541-I which is part of the UK Pavilion. Description: The iUPS101 Uninterruptible Power Supply is certified for use in ATEX Zone 1 hazardous areas and provides back up 230VAC power for 35 minutes at 3KVA full load at 20°C. Critical equipment such as BOP systems are fully protected in the event of a blackout.
Details:
Name: iSOLATE500 Intrinsically Safe RF Isolator
Description: The World’s first apparatus-certified intrinsically-safe RF galvanic isolator for Zone 0. Ensures any standard RF hardware antenna outputs are protected by intrinsic Safety.
Details:
The iSOLATE500 is an ATEX and IECEx approved intrinsically safe Zone 0 RF galvanic isolator. It the antenna output of any standard radio or wireless hardware into an intrinsically safe antenna output. The concept gives users the flexibility to safely implement industry standard wireless solutions in hazardous areas. Now users can deploy the vast majority of wireless radio equipment in hazardous areas without the need to undergo costly assessment by notified bodies. The unique design of the iSOLATE500 means that it has the best possible protection against dangerous transients and makes deploying wireless networks a more simple and cost-effective proposition. The unit is designed with a narrow pass-band which suppresses hazardous transients passing through the isolator to a safe level. The intrinsically safe RF output of the iSOLATE500 also allows users to choose any standard antenna for use with their wireless hardware.
Name: iWAP107 - Wireless Access Point Enclosure System
Description: The iWAP107 is an ATEX, AEx and IECEx approved Zone 1 Access Point Enclosure with intrinsically safe RF outputs. The concept allows installation of standard equipment from leading vendors such as Cisco, Aeroscout, Aruba and Motorola in hazardous areas.
Details:
The intrinsically safe RF outputs of the iWAP107 allow users to choose virtually any antenna for use with their wireless hardware, such as the Extronics iANT200 range of high quality rugged outdoor antennas.
