Profile

Kalsi Seals are a family of rotary seals that provide hydrodynamic lubrication to minimize seal and shaft wear, and to accommodate high differential pressure. They are used for lubricant retention and contaminant exclusion in oilfield equipment, and in severe service applications in other industries.

Kalsi Seals Handbook
The latest revision of the Kalsi Seals Handbook is available on our website at www.kalsi.com/seal-handbook.htm. This handbook includes rotary seal implementation and troubleshooting guidelines, with a special emphasis on oilfield sealing applications. It is based on the collective wisdom of our senior staff members, who have many decades of experience in solving various seal implementation challenges. It is a valuable design manual for existing customers, and for individuals who are interested in using our rotary seals. We will be periodically updating the new handbook and we recommend that you use it directly from the website, so that you can always be sure of referencing the most up to date rotary sealing information. The handbook on our website is searchable; see www.kalsi.com/seal_handbook_search.htm.

Products

Name: Mud Motor Seals
Description: Seals for Oilfield Downhole Drilling Mud Motor Sealed Bearing Assemblies
Details:
Sealed bearing mud motors have several rotary seal locations, and all are critical to reliability. A rotary seal in an axially floating pressure compensation piston is used to balance the lubricant pressure to the drillstring bore pressure. A rotary seal in a fixed location is used to withstand the high pressure differential between the lubricant and the well annulus pressure. A rotary seal in an axially floating barrier piston protects the high pressure seal from the drilling fluid. For more information visit www.kalsi.com/Mud_Motor_Seals.htm, or call (281) 240-6500.

Name: Hydraulic Swivel Seals
Description: 568-Series Enhanced Lubrication Seals™ for Hydraulic Swivels
Details:
The 568-Series Enhanced Lubrication Seals reduce torque and seal-generated heat in critical applications such as high pressure hydraulic swivels, where thin viscosity lubricants are encountered, and higher hydrodynamic pumping-related leakage (compared to Basic Kalsi Seals) can be tolerated. These seals hydroplane on a thin film of hydraulic fluid to reduce wear, even in high differential pressure conditions. A dual durometer seal configuration is recommended for hydraulic swivels. In this configuration, the outer part of the seal is softer than the inner part. This seal configuration construction further reduces breakout and running torque and seal-generated heat, while augmenting extrusion resistance.
