Kongsberg Esco mpv
Profile
Kongsberg Esco mpv have developed a groundbreaking new valve system 2SV You can do maintenance without interrupting the flow and without removing the valve body. Critical parts can be changed with full flow. All offshore floaters, ex FPSO’s and Drilling rigs, do not need to go ashore/external assistance for maintenance/ classification of sea water intake valves

Press Releases
BW Offshore have high expectations for the new FFM- concept from ESCO mpv
Therefore a 2SV - valve will be installed onboard one of their FPSO’s for pilot testing.
On Thursday 10’th of May the pilot valve, type 2SV, was delivered to BW Offshore at their headquarters in Oslo. The FFM concept gives you: Full Flow Maintenance. ESCO mpv is the first valve manufacturer in the world to deliver a valve where all moving parts can be replaced without dismantling the valve from the pipeline, and all moving parts except one disc can be replaced with full flow thru the valve. The disc can be replaced when the valve is in closed position, still without dismantling the valve from the pipeline.
The valve has many features and is attractive to all floaters as a sea water inlet valve, but in particular to Drill rigs and FPSO’s. All sea water inlet- or hull penetration valves must be inspected and classified every 5 years by the classification societies. With 2SV this can be done on the field without any external assistance and without taking the vessel out of operation. Regular maintenance can easily be planned and performed by the crew onboard. Drill rigs do not have to go ashore and FPSO’s do not need to block the seawater intake by having ROV’s and divers in the ocean. All classification / inspection /maintenance operations can be performed from inside of the hull!
This is cost saving and increases safety during such operations.
ESCO mpv is cooperating with BW Offshore in the development of the valve and Lars Gunnar Vogt, SVP Concepts and Technology, Asset Development, looks forward to see if the performance of the valve is according to their expectations. He says that if it can deliver the described functions as promised, it will make the maintenance and inspection/classification activities on their vessels a lot easier. He is pleased with the valves many features, but in addition to the FFM-concept he likes that it is possible to have Double Isolation & Bleed (DI&B) with the 2SV valve in both normal- and service situation. This makes the valve interesting also for cargo systems.
The FPSO will be operated by BW Offshore and it is a big breakthrough for ESCO mpv in the offshore market. ESCO mpv will use this opportunity and continue to develop the 2SV valve for other markets and applications as well.
