Name: maxon's Right Angle Spiroid® Gear
Description: Designed to achieve maximum torque in small spaces. maxon precision motors is pleased to announce the newest addition to our family of motion control products, the 22mm and 32mm right angle gearheads.
Details:
The Spiroid® technology incorporated in the gearhead design offers a number of performance benefits:
Extremely high torque transmission
High stiffness / Low deflection with large applied loads
Back-drivable (4:1 ratio) & Non-back drivable (31:1 ratio) versions
Absolute output shaft position achievable with encoder mounting option
Compact size
Output shaft can be oriented 360 degrees at any time
Low backlash
Up to 3:1 contact ratio
Quiet operation
The 22mm and 32mm right angle gearheads are available in either a 4:1 or 31:1 ratio, which may be mounted directly onto many of maxon's brushed/brushless motors OR stacked on different ratios of maxon's GP22 and GP32 planetary gearheads. This results in a wide range of achievable gear reductions.
Name: maxon's ESCON 36/3 EC servo controller
Description: A compact and powerful 4 quadrant PWM servo controller. maxon’s new ESCON 36/3 EC is a 4-quadrant PWM servo controller designed for efficient control of brushless DC motors with Hall sensors up to approximately 100 Watts.
Details:
The ESCON 36/3 EC has excellent control properties and a very fast digital current controller with a large bandwidth for optimal motor current/torque control. The drift-free yet extremely dynamic speed behavior enables a speed range of 0 to 150,000 rpm. The ESCON 36/3 EC provides a wide range of functions, with fully configurable digital and analog inputs and outputs. It is perfectly matched to maxon's range of motors and thus allows dynamic drive solutions that meet the highest demands. Furthermore it can be run in various operating modes (speed controller (closed loop), speed controller (open loop), current controller).

maxon's Heavy Duty Drive Solution for Extremely Harsh Operating Conditions
Brushless 22mm HD motor and gear combo
maxon motor launches its EC22 HD (Heavy Duty) motor, a 22mm-diameter brushless motor that outperforms any other commercial electric drive on shock, vibration and temperature tolerances. This motor was developed for the exceptionally high requirements in deep drilling technology and resists the most extreme operating conditions. Also available in combination with the GP22 heavy duty gearhead in 1 to 5 stages for use in oil or air operation.
As part of the motor’s development program, a high-temperature test facility was built, and extensive field trials were undertaken. The motor operated at temperatures up to 240°C and under atmospheric pressure conditions from high vacuum to 25,000 psi. It has also been proven to resist impulse and impact forces of 100G. It can operate while submerged in oil, trebling its 80W output rating to 240W because of the improved heat dissipation.
Although developed to perform critical downhole actuation functions, maxon believes the new motor will also appeal to other industries where reliability is essential. The motor’s efficiency of 88% in air (and above 70% in oil) makes it particularly suitable for battery-powered applications.
maxon's 70 Watt Brushless DC Motor with gear and encoder options.
Power Pack in a compact size
maxon motor’s newly designed 70 Watts flat brushless motor delivers a max. continuous torque of 130 mNm at an efficiency of up to 85%. The new motor in its 45 mm diameter is available with Hall sensors and comes in four windings (24, 30, 36, 48 V). It can be combined with more than 54 different planetary and spur gearheads. For motion control purposes, maxon provides a wide variety of servo controllers and positioning controllers to select from.
maxon’s design of the brushless DC flat motors makes them the ideal drive for many applications. Designed as internal or external rotor motors, they are often the ideal solution when space is limited. The well thought-out and simple design means that production is largely automated, helping keep down the price.
It is the ideal choice for use in self-contained drive systems as well as in industrial automation applications.
