History
In early 1954, Hilmer Westphal Leemon began the Leemon Oil Company (predecessor to RKA Petroleum Companies, Inc.) as a premier home heating oil delivery service with Pure Oil Company. Soon after, he expanded the business by adding a gas station and a small oil distribution plant in the suburban Detroit. Leemon Oil Company, Inc. was formally established September 3, 1969 and in 1970 Hilmer added his son-in-law, Roger Albertie into the business. In 1983, Roger Albertie took over as CEO after Hilmer's death and in the 90's, Roger's children, Kari Elliott, Keith Albertie, and Kyle Albertie joined the business. RKA Petroleum Companies, Inc. was established as a DBA. On June 21, 2004, Roger Albertie passed away after an unexpected tragedy and now Kari, Keith, and Kyle are running the operations of the business. Kay Albertie, Roger's widow, is the current CEO. [1]
