Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı (TPAO) is the national oil and gas company of Turkey and one of the most important industrial companies in the country. The company had reserves of 558 million barrels of oil equivalent in 2005, and the reserves are projected to increase to 1.5 billion barrels of oil equivalent in 2010. TPAO produced an average of 70,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day in 2005, and will produce an average of 300,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day in 2010.
Operations
The company is based in Ankara and produces oil and gas in the Caspian region, North Africa, and the Middle East. TPAO carries out exploration and production activities in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Libya, Syria, Turkmenistan, Georgia, Iraq, Egypt, Russia and Algeria.
