Description: This large variable frequency voltage source inverter drive produces 30 MVA of output power at 7.2 kV. The output frequency range is 60 to 200 Hertz using Pulse Width Modulation. The drives can be paralleled to produce 60 or 90 or 120 MVA output.
Details:
The large TMdrive-XL85 is a VSI drive producing 30 MVA of three-phase output power at 7.2 kV. It is designed to drive synchronous motors. The drive uses GCT power transistors rated at 6000 Amps at 6000 Volts, the world's largest power switches. The power circuits are water cooled from a closed de-ionized water system. Using a 36-pulse diode converter, and five level PWM, the output has low harmonics for low air gap torque fluctuations, and low input harmonic distortion.
Based on ten years of experience with similar large medium voltage drives, the drive MTBF is 28 years. Hardly any maintenance is required.
