VAM Drilling is a fully integrated manufacturer of drill pipe and associated drillstem products. VAM Drilling is part of the oil and gas division of Vallourec & Mannesmann Tubes, which is a subsidiary of the Vallourec Group.

The VAM Drilling product lines combine a full range of drilling tubulars and accessories. From the rig floor to the bottomhole assembly (BHA), products can be found in a variety of steel grades with standard API or proprietary connections. With manufacturing facilities in France, Holland and the United States, VAM Drilling supplies drilling products to Europe, North & South America, Asia and Pacific, Africa and Middle East.

VAM Drilling benefits from the Valloruec Group's Research Center which is specialized in steel elaboration to final product assembly.

History

VAM Drilling is a consolidated business unit that combines V&M Tubes Drill Pipe Division, OMSCO, Inc. (now named VAM Drilling USA, Inc.) and SMF-International (now VAM Drilling France).[1]

The Managing Director is Nicolas De Coignac.[2]

  • 1899 : Vallourec was formed. The Vallourec Group has over 20 years of experience with Drill pipe manufacturing.
  • 2005 : The Vallourec Group acquires OMSCO in October.
  • 2006: The Vallourec Group acquires SMF-International and creates the Company VAM Drilling.

Products

VAM Drilling manufactures drilling tubulars and drillstem products:

  • Drill Pipe: the drill pipe function is to transmit hydraulic power, enable directional control and transmit mechanical power. VAM Drilling produces API grade drill pipe (E-75, X-95, G-105, S-135), ultra high strength steel drill pipe (>135KSI) and special Sour Service grades.[3][4]
  • Heavy weight drill pipe: the heavy weight drill pipe provides a gradual transition from rigid drill collars to more flexible drill pipe and prevents fatigue failure and simplifies directional control.
  • Drill collars: drill collars are thick-walled tubular piece that provide weight on the drill bit for improved drilling performance.
  • Accessories: kellys, valves, pup joints, subs, plug, protectors.
  • Drilling Systems:
   HydrocleanTM: designed to improve hole-cleaning efficiency, optimize hydraulics & pressure management in ERD wells.[5]   

   Drill pipe risers: Completion and work-over strings.
