This is the first of two lecture series on Deepwater Horizon incident in Gulf of Mexico by Roland Horne from Standford University.

Roland Horne is the Thomas Davies Barrow Professor in the Department of Energy Resources Engineering in the School of Earth Sciences.

It also gave an explanation about deepwater drilling in general and its components, especially the criticality of the blowout preventer.
