Surface-controlled subsurface safety valve (SCSSV) is a key safety critical equipment in wells and is operated from surface facilities through a control line strapped to the external surface of the production tubing. It isolates wellbore pressure and fluids in the event of an emergency or catastrophic failure of surface equipment. It is generally set to fail-safe mode.
